Want to double check j 2.5 to j 3 /fabrik update procedures

I am a bit fuzzy on the procedures for updating a j 2.5 site to j.3.x when Fabrik is installed. Most of my sites are running j 2.5 / fabrik 3.o updated from github.

I had some issues where I was locked out of the front and back ends because of issues with the Fabrik extension after a J 2.5 - j 3.x migration.

I am getting ready to update a site that relies on about 15 contact forms for user interaction.

Would the following work or is there a better way.

1. bring the joomla installation up to the latest 2.5.x release
2. Update Fabrik to 3.1
3. Update Joomla to j 3.x

Questions

1. Will the method above work? if not, what is the proper path.
2. can you update Fabrik 3.o to fabrik 3.1 on a joomla 2.5 site?
3. Do you need to disable the Fabrik extensions prior to the joomla update?

   yes. But it is a migration, you have to adapt date formats, custom JS, custom php...; after installing Joomla3 you need a Joomla bootstrap template.

3. Do you need to disable the Fabrik extensions prior to the joomla update?
   I've done some updates recently without problems but I've also seen issues some time ago (maybe depending on Joomla version or some other components, I don't know). It won't hurt if you disable the Fabrik system plugin before updating Joomla and enable it again afterwards.

troester - Thanks for the information - I really appreciate it.

And, needless to say, I will have redundant backups before attempting any migrations but this makes the path a lot more clear.
