SOLVED: Prevent same value in an repeated group

Hi,

I would like to prevent the same parent_id value to be submitted twice in a new submission (on add) in the same instance of a repeated group or an existing record using a PHP validation.
I have checked the following post but it didn't work for my case

Not sure what you mean. All entries in a repeat group have the same parent_id (=id of the main record).
So do you only want max one entry?

Yes. I want to prevent the same parent_id in the repeated group. Or in other words the same id of the main record.

You can set repeat max=1 in the repeat group settings.
Or you can set the group to repeatable=no.

This group contains a database join dropdown element with up to two selections and there is a condition which controls in which cases the user can submit one or both.
This group should be repetable and the max cannot be set by default to 1 for the reason i explained.
I hope it's more clear now.

I think I found a solution adding a hidden calc element in the repetable group applying an 'isuniquevalue' validation running under a condition selectiong 'YES' in the 'Within Group' option.
Just in case someone else needs it.
