• Hello Fabrik Community

Fabrik is now in the hands of the development team that brought you Fabrik for Joomla 4. We have recently transitioned the Fabrik site over to a new server and are busy trying to clean it up. We have upgraded the site to Joomla 4 and are running the latest version of Fabrik 4. We have also upgraded the Xenforo forum software to the latest version. Many of the widgets you might have been used to on the forum are no longer operational, many abandoned by the developers. We hope to bring back some of the important ones as we have time.

    Exciting times to be sure.

The Fabrik 4.0 Official release is now available. In addition, the Fabrik codebase is now available in a public repository. See the notices about these in the announcements section

We wish to shout out a very big Thank You to all of you who have made donations. They have really helped. But we can always use more...wink..wink..

Also a big Thank You to those of you who have been assisting others in the forum. This takes a very big burden off of us as we work on bugs, the website and the future of Fabrik.

Can Frabik create PDF reports?

I am wondering if Fabrik is able to create PDF files formatted a certain way based on data that are in lists/db tables? This would be to create some sort of exported report functionality that's a bit nicer looking than a CSV.

Thanks!

It appears that PDF Output can accomplish what I'm looking for. My question is that I already have Fabrik installed. Do I need to reinstall the entire extension from the Github repository or can I just add the files I need?

Our PDF output relies on having the DOMPDF library installed, which is **huge** (mostly the fonts), so we can't include it in the install ZIP.

So you'll have to do a github update (see wiki). WHich sounds scary / complicated, but it's really just a case of downloading a (non-installable) ZIP, extracting it, and uploading everything in it to overwrite the files on your server. We strongly suggest you do an Akeeba backup first, of course.

I followed the github update procedure and when I try to generate some PDF output I get "Failed to load PDF document". The DOMPDF library is definitely in my joomla installation. Any idea why it wouldn't be working?

The solution for me was to turn on PDF debugging in the Fabrik options, loading the pdf, then turning off debugging PDF. Now I am getting generated PDF's from my list.

I found that solution here. http://fabrikar.com/forums/index.ph...stalled-with-github-update.41449/#post-209247

Replying to myself. The above solution worked for one of my websites now the same solution isn't working on another on of my websites. Running 3.7.2 Joomla and Fabrik 3.6 so I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Did the git update just like my other sites, the DOMPDF libraries are where they need to be. Tried turning on debugging and I get a nice layout of my data, turn off debugging it downloads a corrupted PDF.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately, all we can do is provide a "best effort" at PDF generation, by handing your HTML to the DOMPDF library. If DOMPDF chokes on it, there's nothing we can do.

One thing you can test is with the DOMPDF online tester:

http://eclecticgeek.com/dompdf/debug.php

Enable PDF debug in Fabrik, then copy and paste the source of that into the debugger. See if it throws any errors.

We are in need of some funding.
More details.

Thank you.
