GitHub Update - lists and forms no longer visible

I carried out a GitHub update following the Wiki instructions, using ftp and copying the following folders:
  • administrator
  • components
  • fabrik_build
  • libraries
  • media
  • plugins
I then went into Extension Manager -> Manage, did a search on Fabrik and selected all objects found. I then clicked Purge Cache ( can't remember if I clicked update first - could this be the cause of the problem ? ).

After carrying out this work, no tables or forms were visible from the back-end. However the fabrik_lists table in the J! database still showed entries.

I restored the above folders and the database back up and everything is back as it was.

I intend to repeat the process but before doing so would like some feed back on what I might have done wrong ( I've done this once before and it worked fine.) ?

Thanks.

Should be ok (you don't need fabrik_build).
Are you sure you've got the correct GitHub branch (joomla3)?
Maybe download again to exclude corrupted files etc.

Thanks troester - I re-read the instructions and spotted the bit about leaving out fabrik_build ! I built a zip (using the same download) from the folders I listed above, excluding fabrik_build but including all the root files ( those not included in the listed folders ). This time I did the update via cpanel rather than ftp - a lot quicker - and everything works fine. So maybe it was some corruption in the ftp process ( there are some 10K files ) or perhaps the root files are required.

The motive for the GitHub update was to get dompdf - so I can print lists as .pdf's . That worked - I no longer get an error when I try and save a list with the pdf button set to show - but I do get an error when I click the pdf button - I'll post separately as this has got nothing directly to do with GitHub updating.

We are in need of some funding.
More details.

Thank you.
