Rows-per-page shows no effect on list

Although I set the List->Navigation->Rows-per-Page to 50 in the Frontendview are by default only shown 10 records!
This behaviour occurs with different lists and on different URLs.

BTW: I enabled List->Navigation->Show-display-num; now the user can change the Number in the frontend (to 50) and everything works as expected.

I use Joomla 2.5.4 and the latest GitHub update.

If you access your list from a menu item, you have to set the "row per page" in the "options" slider in the menu item itself. These settings (including templates) are overriding the settings in the list itself.
