Unique text field

I have an element called Category. When user add data to it (usually one word), I want this data to be added if it had been entered before. Example, I am creating a list called Tutorials Category, which has only one element. This element is called Category. When a user adds the category, example Photoshop for the first time, it is saved. But when another user adds a new category and he/she calls it Photoshop, I want a warning that says, Category exists, and the entry is not saved. How to do that?

There is a Validation plugin named IsUniqueValue that does this job... it will check if the entry exist already, and warn if found in database. Very easy and useful.
