URL for search Filtering via the URL

Hello,
I want to create a form with elements firstname, lastname, and keyword and use these to access my list called staff. I want to use keyword to look for a match contained in any one of the table elements (position, department, title1, title2,title3,title4) and matching any part of firstname and/or lastname. I'm having trouble constructing the URL to access the table. Can anyone help me with the syntax to filter based on user input?

Do you really need URL filtering?
Do you know you can enable elements as list filters and enable "Search all" in list settings?

Thanks for the quick response. I'm creating a specialized form and from prior experience, filtering as part of my action routine was the way I found to get this to work. Maybe it's not the best. I'm not experienced enough to know, but that is what I am looking at for now.

You might be able to use search_all (I think that's the QS name for it) and designate the elements you want to include in that in their settings.
