"Special" Characters missing after CSV import

Hi guys!

I really hate encoding problems.

I have spanish characters in my CSVs ("Ñ", "á", "é", etc)
When I try to filter a horse name "RUISEÑOR" I cannot find any... If I put "RUISE" I fount it as "RUISEOR" so the "Ñ" was droped during import.

I modified that row using the Fabrik's table backend, typed the missing "Ñ" and it works OK... it is correctly displayed, and it is accepted by the search.

So... this is a CSV import issue.

I'm using the last release (2.04)

I've moved this thread to the Bronze forum, now you have a subscription. Things get answered a lot quicker in Bronze than Community Support.

Hopefully Rob will be working on CSV import this weekend, I'll make sure he sees this one.

Thanks... I just realized how many "Ñ" I can find in 85000 records.
I was lucky that as all horse names are in CAPITAL Letters there are no "á, é, í, ó, ú"

I'll go ahead and raise a ticket on this one ... I know how much Rob enjoys character encoding issues (NOT!).

Can you post your CSV file you are trying to import. I'm guessing your file is not saved as UFT-8 - to ensure it is open it in notepad and save it as a new file, ensuring the Encoding option is set to UFT-8.

I'm using a tool to split my large CSV.
It seems that this tool is dropping my "Ñs"... I just realized when checking one chunk to send you to ensure it has a "Ñ".

I'm gonna try with another tool and verify.

no problem - im pretty sure your tool needs to save as UFT8 if possible to maintain those characters
