Doubt on databasejoin and joined tables

Hello,
I was wondering if between parent table and child table it is necessary to have the databasejoin element which links parent ID with ID child [recommended] or is it enough to define the join only in List-> Data-> Join. In both cases the tables are linked and work.

There's no need to set the foreign key element to dbjoin, a simple field will do, usually you will hide it anyway.

Sorry troester, I think I don't understand your suggestion
I used the databasejoin plugin to link the ID of the parent table with a simple field of the child table.
Then I created the group Parent-table- [Child-table] but I can't set the repeatable option to YES because it returns to "NO" when saving.
How can I do to get repeatable fields in the child table?
