Progressive Web App & Fabrik

Something occurred to me overnight. F5 will be using a lot of CDN links for many of the external JS libraries. F4 and earlier maintained the libraries as copies inside Fabrik which caused a significant bloat and made upgrading versions harder.

Does having these links pointing to CDN sources cause any issues with this type of implementation? Not saying we are going to go back to hosting the libraries ourselves, but it would be good to know whether our intended direction will impact these types of applications.

I don't see any particular problems with using the CDN, There will definitely be some advantages both in terms of application weight and loading speed.
Some CDN are already loaded into the browser cache and this is good in terms of speed.
Perhaps to avoid version incompatibility, perhaps in the CDN link specifying the version will also avoid incompatibility problems between versions.
(but I'm sure you've already thought about this)

Hmm, I'm not an expert in this area, but for my production website I host e.g. Google Fonts on my server and avoid using any external sources for data privacy reasons (else I would have to implement cookie consent tool).
I have found this article from a privacy expert in regards of Cloudflare CDN:

Yes, I have already been using the Fabrik PWA solution for some time and I am implementing it with this project which, although still a bit beta, works perfectly.

Unfortunately, a push notification functionality is not yet integrated, but it is also true that in that case the need for an external service arises and therefore with associated costs

Would you all be willing to write up a wiki page on this for others to follow? I am sure other would be interested.

What would you want in a push notification process?

Since Fabrik has Calendar and Scheduler functions, it would be interesting to be able to send subscribers personalized notifications based on their own deadlines, or even functions similar to the newsletter, so the subscriber can be informed about new features of the App. If you consider that with PWA and Fabrik you can create real APPs for organizations, which can be installed on any type of Smartphone (Androis, IOS, Windows). The potential is high and the possibilities are endless.
