Adding a connection to another database

I am unable to save connection details to another MySQL database on the same server as the J! database. Any ideas or workarounds ? Thanks

Did you add a new connection?
Or trying to modify the "site database"? (You shouldn't)

This was a brand new connection. 3.0.8 appears to have a similar problem with new custom connections. And it won't let you select tables from the site database - or at least I can't get it to work.

I can't see this in 3.1 or 3.08, both is working on my sites.

What is "unable to save". Any error messages?
Did you set Joomla's error reporting to max?
Did you try different browsers?
Any JS errors?
Any 3rd party components (e.g. for JS compression...)?

What is your host name? localhost?
