Fabrik 4 Install Instructions

Hello and welcome. We thank you for helping make Fabrik work for all of us.

Please note, the only means for installing Fabrik 4.0/4.1/4.2 or for upgrading Fabrik, from F3 to F4 or from an earlier pre-release of F4, is through a package install. J! update is not available.

After the Installation of Fabrik 4.2 the J! updater will be reinstated, so as we make newer releases you will see them available in the extensions update section of your administration.

Download / Install​

You can download the current install package from Fabrik's download area here.
Then install via Joomla! Installer. (As always: Backup your site before installing or updating).

Please note, this package is close to 70MB so you will need to ensure your php_max_upload size is sufficient. See this stackoverflow posting for how to do this. We recommend setting the size to 128M. If you cannot upload a file that large you can unzip it on your local computer and ftp the individual Packages to your J! site and install from folder.

Cleanup after installation​

After installing Fabrik 4.0/4.1 cleanup the update cache, otherwise J!update may show updates or messages related to old update sites:

• "Rebuild" the update sites.
• "Refresh cache" on all Fabrik entries in Manage / Extensions

Prerequisites​

PHP8.1 and Joomla! 4.2+

Please check your database structure (System/Maintainace/Database), especially if your site is a J!3/F3 upgrade.

Joomla! 5​

Fabrik 4.1 installs on Joomla 5 and and has several fixes needed for J!5.1.
As always: Backup your site before installing or updating
Test on a test system and report back in the bugs forum any issues you discover.

General notes:​

Please test on a test copy of your site before installing on a production site. If you find any errors please post them in the bugs section of this forum and we will do our best to try and fix them.

If you are upgrading from F3 please see Upgrading-from-fabrik3.10-to-fabrik4 on how to do the upgrade. There are important prerequisites documented in this article so please review thoroughly prior to attempting an upgrade.

Front end testing templates were Cassiopeia and to a lesser extent Helix Ultimate. Admin testing template on Atum. At this time we do not want to get into any issues with other templates.

Not all Fabrik 3 plugins have been migrated. Those that have and appear to be working are included in the install package.
