Custom Detail Form using Link Element

I am currently using Fabrik 3.3.2, Joomla 3.4.2, and PHP 5.5.9.

I am creating a custom detail form for viewing a record in a list. My problem is that the element that is using the "link" plugin is actually a string that looks something like this: {"label":"","link":"www.mywebsite.com"}

I was hoping to use this plugin because it makes the content a live link to the appropriate website when displayed in a list. Is there a predefined way I am to use this element in a form? I can do the "normal" way but it displays the website like the example above.
