Added element not added to table

I had a list where 'Alter field types' was set to 'No' and changed it to 'Add new fields only'.
When I added the new field, upon save I still got the notice that the field was not added to the table.
What gives?
Can I just manually go ahead and add this new field to the table via phpMyAdmin and everything will work - or do I need to wait for this bug to be fixed?

Seems it is only throwing a wrong message, on my site the column itself is created in the DB.

Hi,

I am also facing the same issue. In options "Alter field types" by default is set to "Yes" and now I have chantged it to "Alter fields types = Add new fields only", but no change. I have cleared joomla cache and browser cache but still no luck.

Also tried to create a copy of the element and now the error is "You can't add fields to this list. The element name is already in use".
Surfed in forums and tried in Google, but not able to find the exact solution. Not knowing how to change / resolve it.

Please help me here.
