Form email plugin

I am looking to set up the form email plugin in such a way that the user can select which template to use when sending the mail. So I would like to click add from the list, populate the various fields and one last field which selects the template I would like to use. I have tried to store the html template in a database field which gets referenced using a placeholder. The two problems are the placeholders in the template don’t get populated and all the formatting is stripped including line breaks.


Has anyone tried to do this and had any success?

One possibility (I didn't test):
Create one php template including all your different temples which is then switching the output depending on the user's selection of the "template" element.
