Github Update

I want to be able to filter from a list and export that data.
From all I have read I need to perform an update from GitHub to do this.
If I'm wrong please give me options.
I've made a duplicate of my site and if necessary am ready to make the update.
Can anyone provide me with instructions for a full GitHub update?
I've never updated from GitHub and would not be offended if you got elementary.

This should be built in.

With Joomla2.5.28 you need Fabrik3.0.9, both is not longer supported.

GitHub is code newer than Fabrik3.5.1, you can't use it.
Updating from J!2.5.28/Fabrik3.0.9 to J!3.6.5/Fabrik3.5.1 is a migration.

Oh my, the migration was painful. I has to uninstall all extensions, plugins, everything. It was on a Staging site so I haven't lost anything but surely there must be a way to update to Joomla 3 without loosing everything or some way to move my Fabrik stuff to the new version without having to rebuild from scratch.

No, you don't need to uninstall anything.
