I need to create a record last updated field in a list.

I'm trying to create a field in a list that will let someone know who is viewing a record the last time that particular record was updated. It will need to save a time-stamp into the database and overwrite that time-stamp every time the save button is clicked.

What is the best way to go about accomplishing this?

Timestamp element or date element with option "always return today's date"
