Package Export - Issue on Joomla! 3.2.3 Stable [ Ember ] Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu)

With J!3.2.3 you should update from GitHub (joomla3 branch), there have been some issues with this Joomla version.
Make sure your tmp folder is writable.
The export (= creating the zip file) is working on my site.
I didn't test to install the package - keep in mind that the package feature is still work in progress and may have issues.

we're currently doing a software selection and the feature discussed represents one of the key choice criteria.
This is in order to streamline development and updates on the production system.
Therefore, we would like to know when this will be part of the stable distribution to build a reliable production system.

I can't really answer that question. We're working on the package feature, but we can't give a definitive date when we expect it to be officially stable.
