Pagination / ajax strips out custom URL filter

I am using a prefilter to filter the data from the url, but when ajax link is activated or using the pagination links it doesnt seem to include the url filter so it resets when changing pages.

This also seems to occur with the ajax modal windows. when you save the form it saves then closes the child window then refreshes the parent window via ajax but does not take into account the Url filter which results in the list showing everything.
