I saw an answer to this before, but I can't seem to find it again.

If I installed or updated fabrik from github, can i later update it from Update in joomla's Extension manager??

When I selected all the fabrik update items, I got

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@campusparkeast.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I I select 10 fabrik items, I get

  • Update: :Extension: Could not open
  • Invalid extension update
  • Update: :Extension: Could not open
  • Invalid extension update

My main question is : If I update or install from Github, do I always have to use github for updates or is there a way to use the extension manager update.

Thanks

Chris

No you can't.
When you FIRST install Fabrik, you download the current version on the fabrikar.com site and you install it with the Joomla installer.
THEN, all the upgrades made from the GitHub releases are done via FTP to your server. NEVER use the Joomla installer.
When a new "official" version is released on fabrikar.com (like the upcoming 3.1RC), it is recommended to download it and install it with the Joomla installer (DON'T uninstall anything first, you'd loose all your tables!!!), as it sometines contains database structure updates, then resume the usual Gitub updates process.

We are in need of some funding.
More details.

Thank you.
