updating from Github

sorry, I'm new to this, so I don't know how...silly my question can be...

I am trying to add the webservices plugin to Fabrik. It is not in the latest official release (3.1).
I looked at the code on the github branch, and it seems like the webservices plugin is in the github code, in the master branch, under plug-ins, fabrik_list, webservice.

I downloaded the master branch to my computer, extracted the files, then recreated a zip by selecting all the files;

-build.xml
-components

-fabrik_build
-libraries

Then I tried uploading it to Joomla.
And I get the message that no xml installation file was found, so the installation cannot happen.
But, I have 4 xml files in my zip....

I don't understand.
I'm trying to follow the 'Update from Github' tutorial on the Fabrikar website...
What am I doing wrong...

If you are running Fabrik3.1 you have to use the joomla3 branch.

• For Fabrik 3.1 for Joomla 3.0:
  • Download the latest zip file from https://github.com/Fabrik/fabrik/archive/joomla3.zip

This is NOT an installable ZIP, do not try running it through any installers

You can upload your created zip and unpack.

Hello,
I have Joomla 3.2.1
I tried with the joomla3 link you sent me; unzipped it, selected all files, rezipped.
It didn't work, still says that it can't find the xml intallation file.

Am I doing the unzipping/rezipping wrong or...
Is it because I am on Joomla 3.2.1...?

And it confuses me that you say if you're using 'Fabrik 3.1';
I erased the official version of Fabrik 3.1 that I had.
I thought that it's either I use the official version, or the most up-to-date github one...
So I erased my official version, downloaded the github file, and was trying to upload my zip to my Joomla 3.2.1

DON'T uninstall Fabrik (you would lose all your work), don't erase anything (not necessary)
DON'T install the GitHub zip or anything you've zipped yourself (This is NOT an installable ZIP), just upload the files (overriding the old ones) as described in the WIKI.

Ok...
I didn't start my projet yet.. So I had nothing to lose...But thanks.
So I reinstalled Fabrik 3.1 the official release
Now, I am going through the folders in the Joomla3 file.
I want the webservices plugin, but it has many files;
I tried uploading every file one by one, because you say that I can't zip.
I started with webservices.xml
It says; impossible to find installation pack...

Sorry if I am being dumb, but I don't understand...

OK.
I think I got this.

Actually, I did need to zip.
Once on the webservices folder, I had to select all the files in the folder, zip them, and then upload them.
Then go to my extensions manager, purge the cache, go to the updates, also go to updates and make sure all updates were there.

I had done this before, installing the webservices zip, and it did upload, but I think I didn't have the right version, I had 3.0.9 instead of 3.1, I guess that's because I took it from the 'master branch' not the 'joomla3' branch.

For the moment, looks like it worked.
