Alternating background colour in repeat group?

Is there a simple way of changing the background colour for a repeating group on a form - I am finding it difficult to demarcate each group as it appears. It looks like the screen scrolls to the middle of the group (Firefox) rather than the top, so it's a bit confusing to then find where the group starts and I'd like to give a visual clue.

I've seen the destructions for changing css for a specific group id, but I can't see how I would be able to do it for a repeat...

Perhaps related, is there a way of keeping the + - buttons for repeating the group on the screen as I scroll down the form (to save having to go back to the top of the page), or maybe repeating them at the bottom of the group.
