Hiden checkbox doesn't show up on change

Hi,
I want to make a checkbox field that will show up only if the user will choose yes option in yes/no field.
I add a javascript events: onload when element1 ==0 hide element2, and onchange when element1 != 0 show element2. I tried also change 2nd event to onchange when element1 ==1 show element2. Element2 is hidden on load, but it doesnt show up when I change the option.
What am I missing?
I am using joomla 3.3 and Beez3 template

I could not get onchange to work for yes/no either - try onclick though since they have to click it to change it - that seems to work.
