Hi,
I discovered recently Fabrik and installed it on my local test system.
First of all: It's a great tool, congratulation to the developers :)

Now, I wanted to install it on the production system on the web. However, only the plugins and modules are installed. Installation of the component aborts with a server 500 error.
That's the first time I can't install an extension on the web which runs fine on my local test environment.

I tried both variants: installation by uploading the package or installation from an already uploaded file in a server directory.

Does anybody have an idea?

My environment:
Local Test-System:
XAMPP 1.7.7 package
PHP 5.3.8
MySQL 5.5.16 (user root without pwd)
Joomla 2.5.4

Production System:
PHP 5.3.8
MySQL 5.1.39
Joomla 2.5.4

Did you also try to install the unpacked files from server directory?
What is your server's memory_limit and max_execution_time?

Yes, I tried it also from the server --> same result

How can I find the server's memory_limit and max_execution_time?
Is it MySql or PHP or somethin else?

Thanks for your reply :)

You can see it with
Site->System Information->PHP-Information
somewhere in the "Core" part

max_execution_time is 90 on the web server and 30 on the local test system
memory_limit is 100M on the web server and 128M on the local test system

Hi,

version 3.0.5.1 is not the complete fabrik zip file it only has about 4MB it is an update for 3.0.4.
However fabrik is about 12.7 MB to 13MB. So first install 3.0.4 then update with 3.0.5.1

OR better download and install 3.0.5.2 which is a complete version

Hmmm, when zipped the main pkg shouldn't be much more than 4mb. The component itself is about 3mb, zipped.

I think 3.0.4 may have had a bunch of un-necessary files in it. We're still working to perfect our build.xml Ant script, tweaking the various copy filesets to exclude non-relevant data. I know one build I did went up with a bunch of MP4's I'd put in ./media/com_fabrik on my build machine by accident!

But anyway - the 3.0.5.2 pkg from the downloads is the ZIP you should do an initial install from (as of today, of course if anyone is reading this in the future, ymmv!).

-- hugh

I tried it with the updated package 3.0.5.2

Unfortunatley the same result: no issue to install it on the local system, but error 500 on the production server :(

I tested again both method: upload and installation from server directory

Did you check your folder access rights?
Did you try to enable the Joomla FTP?

Database collation? Anything to see in the server error_log?
Can you set Joomla error logging to max and try again?

Folder access rights:
the componenets directory of joomla has the same rights like the modules and plugins directory (where I can find the fabrik subdirectories for modules and plugins)

FTP:
is disabled (same like my local test system) - should I enable it?

Database collation:
What's that?

server error_log:
I don't find it -> I have to get in touch with the server provider

Joomla Error Logging:
I did --> I just see errror 500 message

Thanks for your response!

Ok, Is this localhost or remote host ?
oh, u have used XAMPP, so it was localhost.
F3 & J!2.5.4 &XAMPP works for me. machine is PentiumD2.7Ghz. Was your machine upper more than me ? And has your machine overhead anything which was like a background application or anything else ? Or you might set blew to php.ini or htaccess.

php_value max_execution_time 60
php_value max_input_time 60
php_value post_max_size 4M
php_value upload_max_filesize 3M
php_value memory_limit 64M
php_value upload_max_filesize 2500K
php_value socket_timeout 60

can you turn on Joomla's debugging (found in the global configuration page) and then try re-uploading. Do you get a more verbose error than just '500' ?

Settings on Web Server and local Test Server, respectively in brackets:

php_value max_execution_time 90 (30)
php_value max_input_time -1 (60)
php_value post_max_size 8M (8M)
php_value upload_max_filesize 8M (8M)
php_value memory_limit 100M (128M)
php_value socket_timeout 60 (60)

Hi Dieter,

Try temporarily disabling your .htaccess file, by renaming it .htaccess_disable

Then try installing Fabrik extension again. Let me know what happens.
