checkbox element default value issue

Hi all
I've a checkbox with only one box (why not ?)
Seems that checkbox default value when box is not ticked is not taken into account (neither value nor label...).
Do you confirm ?

Default values are only applied on loading a new form, to set the initial default state of the element in the form's display.

If the checkbox isn't selected, nothing gets submitted with the form (that's an HTML thing), and the value gets set to empty.
