This is more an FYI than really needing help. I hope this helps a few people by being posted. It took me a while to figure this out.
I have a custom php list plugin that works somewhat like the update column list plugin that also posts data to an external site. I have several groups inside this list. One of them contains data needed to create the link for the post. This was working fine for me (a super admin) but not for anyone who wasn't. The other users had at least read access to all of the fields needed and could view it in the list. What I discovered is that the users also needed access to the group that contained the elements. Otherwise the code returned had empty spaces where there should have been data from the elements.
When it comes to list plugins, group access is important. That's what I learned.
