How to open Dropdown Element in Modal Popup

Please excuse me, as I am asking very basic questions in this forum.

I have a dropdown element, with three options Pending, Under Review and Approved.

How do I open this Element in Listview in Popup Modal window to select the option and save the value instead of going into Detail view of the form. I know, I have to add some bootstrap modal window JS script in that element.

Please guide step by step.

Friendly bump. Just need to know what bootstrap html code is used to open particular element in Modal window ? Any help would be highly appreciated.

What are you trying to to?
I assume you don't want to only change the displayed value but you want to save this modification also in the database, i.e. your want to edit the record(s)?

Have a look at the updatecol list plugin
