Issues with Github Update

Trying to do a github update (to solve the 0 dompdf issue) & although the ftp seems to have overwritten everything correctly when I look at the extension manager everything is v3.2 Aug14

After that of course nothing works and I end up back where I started

Any good tips here please?

I believe that I did this - what happens if I just download and install the latest & greatest version? Will it destroy my system? Will it solve the 0dompdf issue?

When I try and enable pdf then the site crashes and gives me 0 dompdf error

which sent me in the direction of trying to do a full github upload (with zero success so far) - so thinking of just over-installing fabrik from 3.2 to 3.4.latest - thoughts?

Nope, we don't include the DOMPDF library with the install, because it's about 20MB. You can only install it through a github update.

when this http://fabrikar.com/forums/index.php?wiki/update-from-github/ talks about putting zip in root it means /httpdocs right? & then unpack and overwrite from there?

Depends on where you have your Joomla root (may be /httpdocs or a subdirectory).
The "zip" is not the GitHub download but the one you have created.

OK so zipped the relevant directories - transferred to /httpdocs & unzipped - tried to go to backend - fatal error -
Fatal error: Class 'Joomla\String\StringHelper' not found in /mnt/data/vhosts/.......cloudaccess.net/httpdocs/libraries/fabrik/include.php on line 180

A site restore and this time I unzipped to httpdocs/administrator - seems to show that there are some directories with today's date but in extension manager I only see v3.2 & refresh cache does not work (obviously)

OK so zipped the relevant directories

Seems you've missed e.g. libraries

Did you update to latest J! before doing this?

You have to be running at least J! 3.5.1 (not 3.4.x) to run the latest version of Fabrik, due to changes in J!'s name spacing for the StringHelper.
