joomla 3.8.5 website really slow, no clue why

Hello Community,

I noticed, that Joomla 3.8.5 + Modules seems to be very slow with me.
Currently I have no clue, what would cause the lag in loading.

I have Fabrikar installed and it will be used later for some custom functions.
I also have eShop, MinitekWall and some additional Modules running.

Is it possible, that someone could be so kind to have a quick frontpage check.
Maybe you guys will find a clue with browser developer tools.

Could it be, that those images are too big?
The total page size is 14.3MB and it needed 16.7s to load.

Have you looked at Dev Tools in a browser like Chrome, in the Network tab, that shows you exactly what takes how much time to load?

The time to first byte is bad - 6 seconds before the server responds at all. In order to debug that, you'll need to enable Joomla debug, and look at the profile at the bottom of the page.

Then there's a big pause half way through as it tries to load a non existent file:
