After upgrading can't access front or backend

As nobody else is reporting this issue, it's something specific to your system. Which makes it hard to tell. One thing you could try is editing your extensions table, and set the 'ordering' of the Fabrik system plugin such that it is the lowest. I have occasionally seen problems where a system plugin from another extension conflicts with ours, if ours doesn't run first.
